Everything You Need To Know About SG60 Celebrations In Singapore

By: Stephanie Zheng

Singapore turns 60 in 2025, and the SG60 celebrations are shaping up to be nothing short of epic. Feast your way through limited-edition menus by your favourite local chefs, score patriotic hotel packages, public events, government initiatives, and just soak in all the nostalgic throwbacks. There’s a whole lineup of ways to celebrate Singapore's diamond jubilee.

Psst, you'll also want to know where's the best place to watch the National Day Parade's fireworks!

SG60 FAQs: Everything You’re Wondering, Answered

What is SG60 and why is it significant?

SG60 marks Singapore’s 60th year of independence since 1965, a major milestone known as the diamond jubilee. The celebrations spotlight national pride, multicultural heritage, and forward-looking progress, with events taking place across the city from May through August 2025.

When is Singapore’s National Day in 2025?

National Day falls on 9 August 2025, with main celebrations, including the National Day Parade (NDP) and fireworks, culminating on this date. Key rehearsal and preview dates are 26 July and 2 August.

What’s happening during the SG60 celebrations?

Expect a city-wide calendar packed with NDP previews, community parades, heritage exhibitions, outdoor festivals, public art, special museum programmes, concerts, and months-long SG60 dining series at different venues. Many hotels, restaurants, and attractions are also launching themed promotions.

Is SG60 only celebrated on National Day?

Not at all. While the fireworks and parade happen around National Day, SG60 celebrations stretch over months, with many installations, performances, and events popping up as early as May and running through August or beyond.

Are there free events for SG60?

Yes! While the National Day Parade is balloted for Singapore Citizens and PRs only, there’s no shortage of free or low-cost neighbourhood carnivals, public park fireworks, art trails, and concerts designed to bring the community together. Be sure to check the official SG60 and NDP websites for updates.

Can tourists join SG60 events?

Absolutely. SG60 is as much a showcase for visitors as it is for locals. In fact, hotels, museums, and attractions often roll out special deals and experiences during this period, making it an ideal time to visit Singapore.

What should I wear to SG60 events?

Red and white are the unofficial dress code colours, mirroring the Singapore flag. For parades and outdoor events, dress comfortably and bring a fan, water bottle, and maybe a mini flag if you’re feeling festive.

Where can I find a list of SG60 events?

Check VisitSingapore.com, the official NDP website, and platforms like Urban List Singapore for curated guides, updated event calendars, and insider tips on where to go and what to do.

We’re rounding up the most exciting SG60 happenings in Singapore, and you’ll want to keep checking back as we’ll be updating this list regularly with new SG60 events, promos, and releases!
